It is our privilege to serve you while you attend a conference at Willow Creek. We do everything possible to make your stay an enriching and comfortable experience. We also honor Host Home volunteers who serve our international guests during each conference, sometimes seven or eight times a year! Willow Creek Host Homes offer Hospitality (host home stay) out of their own generosity and receive no money for doing so. You, as guest, will be charged a small administrative fee which the WCA recoups to help offset ministry expenses. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions.

Specific Host Requests: If you would like to stay with a specific GH Host family, you may request that family on the special Global Hospitality Request Form. In so doing, you let us ask the Willow Global Host family if they are available and honors our Global Hospitality process.

Contacting your Host: Once you have received your “Host Confirmation” please contact your host. This establishes a plan to welcome you, confirm travel plans, and communicate directions and special instructions. Our host homes look forward to hearing from you and enjoy planning for your stay.

Transportation: Our hosts do not provide transportation, making it necessary for you to arrange your own car rental. The church is located in a sprawling suburban locale with no direct access to public transportation. Cars can be rented at any airport and in most suburbs. Relying on taxi service daily is an option; however, it may be extremely costly depending on how far your host is located from the church. Please be aware that most car rental agencies require drivers to be at least 25 years of age and all require a valid international driver’s license and an internationally known credit card.

Meals: Host homes are not expected to provide meals. However, if the Host does offer you meals or food provisions you are certainly free to accept their hospitality. We have a restaurant directory available to you and the church campus offers a relatively inexpensive breakfast each morning of the conference, lunches and dinner on Wednesdays prior to our New Community service at 7pm. Most host homes have a large selection of restaurants within a short drive.

Accommodations: Most host homes are located within a 20-mile radius from Willow Creek. You will be provided with your own bed in a room that might be shared with another guest. Linens & towels will be provided. You will also have access to a bathroom. Sometimes the bath area will be shared. Please don’t hesitate to ask how to use the facilities if you are unclear. Many of our hosts are experienced with international guests and will gladly familiarize you with their use. Smoking is not permitted in host homes. There are no provisions for children, either at host homes or at the church during conference time.

Duration of Stay*: Your host home has agreed to host you for the “Official Hosting Dates” (typically eight nights, Saturday to Sunday) to allow for rest and recuperation from your travel. Please understand that our Global Hospitality Volunteers have seven to eight hosting opportunities each year. Therefore, if your stay is outside of the “Official Hosting Dates”, it is at the hosts discretion if they can accommodate you, otherwise please be prepared to book your own hotel room for the additional days.

Car Pools: We understand the need for groups to be housed as close to each other as possible due to car pool arrangements and we make our best effort to place guests within proximity to each other. However, some groups may be scattered farther away than optimal, making it necessary to know who will be the driver(s). Please know we do not always have enough host homes available during a single conference in a certain suburb. Accurate car pool information, with the driver identified, is the best help to keep your group as close together as possible.

Telephone and Internet Access: Each day of the conference, there will be a large number of courtesy phones available for your use. These phones, like the phones in your host home, are available for local access only. Long distance calls require a long distance calling card. These cards are available for purchase at Seeds, Willow’s bookstore. To access the internet, you must have your own laptop computer and your own account. Your internet provider at home can assist you with the local phone numbers to access your internet account from your host home.

Emergency Information: In the rare event of an emergency while in the U.S., please always carry with you an emergency contact and plan to leave one at your host home. It is strongly recommended that you have international travel insurance which covers health emergencies. You are responsible for expenses incurred related to your health while you travel.
*Duration of Stay can be lengthened only upon approval from WCA International for strategic Ministry purposes.
